THE GOOD:
GOOD LOOKS FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL PHONE
LIGHT WEIGHT
BATTERY TIME IS GOOD
THE BAD:
NOT A TOP TIER PHONE
SCREEN SIZE IS SMALL
LOW RESOLUTION SCREEN
THE UGLY:
BACK COVER IS HARD TO REMOVE
NO SECONDARY CAMERA
TOUCHSCREEN SENSITIVITY
It has been quite some time now that the phone has been in the market. Available in variety of colors, it offers very good display bundled in light weight. Acer has done remarkably well to design this phone as an entry level but not all the features of this phone are great. We will take the phone step by step to get you an overview.
General:
Generally speaking the phone works on all the GSM modes and the ones available in US. 3G services are also supported by the phone. Acer LiquidMini comes with 5MP camera but unavailability of secondary camera is a disappointment.
Build:
The phone's build is not bad at 110.4 x 57.5 x 13mm. For an entry level phone, it is quite decent. The weight is also quite light at 109g. The Form factor of the phone is candy bar.
Display:
At 360x640 pixels there is nothing much to talk about the phone's display. It is quite small so whatever it is that the user is going to view, they have to put a bit of stress on their eyes to get a hold of what is there on screen. With TFT type display at 256K colors, phone has actually disappointed in terms of touchscreen also. So, on the basis of display size and low resolution coupled with an ugly touch, display is not so good. The availability of phone in different colors is a great satisfaction but, its internal factors that customer uses rather than color which we usually forget within a week.
Software:
Running at OS 2.2 Froyo and upgradable to OS 2.3 Gingerbread, phone is quite decent in terms of software. For an entry level customer to android smartphones, it is quite good to test good features of android at this phone. Froyo has never been a favorite of android users so in order to get a better experience of android gingerbread is going to get some satisfaction to users of this phone.
Hardware:
Hardware of the phone is quite impressive at 600MHZ processor speed and 512MB ram. Acer liquidmini e310 comes with 1300mAh battery which provides good backup and talk time.
Memory:
This is where it sucks, internal memory is mere 512MB so if you happen to start liking this phone and you are running android 2.2 you can not download whole lot of applications. In order to compensate this, the phone support microSD card up to 32GB. Still, the phone's internal memory had to be more.
Camera:
There is solid 5MP camera coming with this phone so you can shoot at maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels in still image mode and video can be recorded at 480p. Unavailability of secondary camera however is something that hurts.
Web Experience:
With android smartphones, the best thing I like is the ability to browse web with full flash support which is not there in iphones. But, at the small screen its not much of an experience that user would love to have. YouTube can also be played. Phone is equipped with the tools necessary to browse web but, small screen and low resolution is where it does not feel great.
Connectivity:
There are all connectivity options available in this phone when it comes to GSM based connections, GPRS, EDGE, Wifi connectivity, Bluetooth, 3G all options are available. To connect to computer it has micro usb 2.0 connectivity.
Battery:
Battery in Acer liquidmini e310 is quite good. At 1300mAH, it provides good standby time as well as talk-time. The stand by time on 2G is expected to be 400H and on 3G its 480H. Talk time on 2G networks would be around 8 Hours and 6 Hours 30 Minutes on 3G networks.
Verdict:
For an entry level user, acer liquidmini e310 may provide some good experience but if you are looking for a decent smartphone with good screen size and good touch experience you should look somewhere else.
